So for the past few weeks me and Yagawa-san have been preparing protein samples to run with in the SPR machine. I’m talking like two weeks of preparation. Anyway, the day we planned to run it someone was using the machine, and usually no one uses the machine. Anyway, we finally got to run our samples and we were really excited to find something out. But, alas again no good results were obtained and we have to move on the NMR which will take even longer. Anyway, I’m learning a lot about research, especially the fact that the two letter “re” are very important. Because we do things over and over again until something works.

The surface Plasmon resonance machine (SPR) other-wise known as Bia-core to the Japanese because that’s the company’s name. It cost a few hundred thousand dollars, but the results we got were worth zero because the proteins we used didn’t give good results.
