Seminar with Professor Itoh from Kyoto University, Okazaki fragmetns
Because I’m writing this entry late, I’m not sure if this date was the real date the seminar occurred. Anyway, there was a seminar recently from a famous professor in Kyoto University. It was all in Japanese so I had a hard time following. But, everyone said that it went well.
Today I learned that the Okazaki fragments that everyone learns about in high school or college biology was discovered just a few laboratories down from where I am.
The memorial plaque in front of the lab where Okazaki fragments were found. If he would have lived longer he would have probably won the Nobel prize, and that would make the Science department at Nagoya University the recipient of two Nobel prizes.

That makes me feel even more special to study at Nagoya University.
